2025 Annual General Meeting

The 44th Annual General Meeting of St. Benedict’s College OBU Victoria Inc. was held on Sunday, 2nd March 2025 at Mary Magdalens Catholic Church Hall - 22 Bolwarra St, Chadstone VIC 3148 from 11 AM onwards. 50 active OBU members were present on this day with close to 75 participants in total.

The proceedings commenced with an opening prayer led by Morley Fernando. 

The minutes from the 2024 AGM were read by outgoing Secretary, Shannon Ranasinghe and approved by the membership. Shannon also presented the secretary's report which highlighted the following activities:

• 2024 AGM and fellowship lunch

• St Benedict's Feast

• 2024 Annual Dinner Dance

• Sports events

  • Bens vs Wesley Legends Trophy

  • Saints' Quadrangular

• STEM Project updates

• Membership updates

• Reaching our membership

• Upcoming events

The Treasurer's Report was read out by our Treasurer, Nilantha Perera, highlighting our net assets, Dinner dance revenue and donations made to College. Nilantha was congratulated by the membership for his diligence in maintaining minimal debts.

21st Century Learning Initiative

Ranjith (Wajira) Dediwalage, STEM Project Consultant presented the next steps for the 21st Century Learning Initiative and how to sustain this moving forward. Wajira discussed the history, current status, challenges faced to implement this, current challenges that are continuous and the plan to move ahead. 

The quorum applauded Wajira and thanked him for his time, dedication and effort in bringing this project to life. 

Felicitations

Ranjith (Wajira) Dediwalage was felicitated by the quorum and a token of appreciation was handed over by Srinath Jayawardena at the invitation of Denver.

Our Old Bens Victoria Cricket team was felicitated for their outstanding performance at the Big Match 2024 and the Saints Quadrangular Tournament 2025. Surien Silva and Sachin Peiris were presented with the Saints Quadrangular Trophy and a framed keepsake of the team photo on behalf of the team.

The outgoing committee was then felicitated by Denver who thanked each member along with their spouses for their time and commitment.

New Committee for 2025/26

Thereafter, President Denver Fernando handed over the proceedings to the Patron, Raine Wallace to elect the new committee for 2025/2026.
