The echoes of cheering crowds and the crack of leather on willow still linger in the air after a spectacular Legends Trophy event that unfolded at Sydney Pargeter Reserve this past Saturday, April 6th, 2024. The annual cricket clash between the Old Bens Victoria Cricket Team and the Wesley College OBU Cricket Team once again proved to be a highlight on the sporting calendar, drawing in passionate supporters and showcasing the enduring spirit of both institutions.
The day dawned bright and clear, setting the stage for a thrilling contest. The atmosphere was electric as the College and National anthems reverberated across the grounds, marking the official commencement of the day's festivities. Cricket enthusiasts, families, and alumni alike gathered in anticipation, eager to witness the cricketing prowess on display.
The Over 40's Masters T-20 Cricket Encounter kicked off the action, with seasoned veterans showcasing their skills and reminding everyone that age is no barrier to passion and sportsmanship. The match was a testament to the enduring love for the game, with players demonstrating impressive agility and strategic play. Our cricketers managed to win this match by six wickets.

Following the Masters match, the highly anticipated Legends Trophy T-20 Cricket Encounter took center stage. The Old Bens and Wesley teams, fueled by a friendly rivalry and a desire for victory, battled it out on the pitch. The match was a captivating display of athleticism, teamwork, and strategic execution, keeping spectators on the edge of their seats. Bens OBU Vic Cricket Team won this match by 56 runs.

As the afternoon sun cast long shadows across the grounds, a special Sister Schools 5-over Cricket Encounter provided a glimpse into the future of the sport. Past Pupils from our sister school, Good Shepherd Convent and Wesley College's sister school, Methodist College showcased their talent and enthusiasm. It was a tightly contested match but the Shepherdians did us proud by winning the match by five wickets and kept all the trophies on Kotahena soil.
